… January is a tough time for many but by making time for yourself and not setting unrealistic goals you will be just fine.

Try to get outside when you can as fresh air can transform your day, your mood, your attitude and your energy levels.

The sunset picture was taken by a client near Maryport - isn’t it gorgeous!

Why not consider venturing out to the coast at sunset (4ish) it’s a real mood booster on these dark January evenings.

So sorry to clients I had today.

As I was rushing out the door one of these darlings got under my feet and sent me flying I put my hand out to save the fall and have sprained my wrist. I shall be PRICEing it today and be back to manual therapy asap!

Meet Haggis, a working cocker spaniel who we hope to train to become a therapy dog. He’s settled in well and currently a bundle of mischief! We love him to bits, so expect to see him from time to time!

Sorry for the radio silence everyone. This year has been a whirlwind (all in a good way) but I feel like I’ve blinked and we’re halfway through the year already!

So a little update for you, I’m home after an amazing IOM TT working for MRMS as the therapy team lead. The team smashed it as always so we headed up the podium for a great photo by the incredible @jw_drp ☺️

Lots more exciting news coming soon!

Achilles tendonitis is a common overuse injury that can come on suddenly and in the worst case scenario, can result in a rupture of the achilles tendon.⁠

Achilles tendon fibres weaken and fray from repeated stress. In turn the tendon tries to heal itself which can lead to the formation of troublesome lumps or nodules. Ow!⁠

Don’t be embarrassed, loads of us struggle to put away this life-giving liquid! 🙈⁠

Forgetting to eat is pretty impossible (tummy rumbles and delicious food, right?) but forgetting to drink water is EASY. Why? There are lots of alternatives that tempt us away from nature’s nectar - fizzy drinks and caffeinated tea and coffee for starters. These drinks, tasty as they might be, are more likely to dehydrate us that make us feel good. Keep them as a treat!⁠

HOW TO KNOW YOU’RE DEHYDRATED:⁠
⁠
❗You’ll feel tired and lethargic with a loss of focus⁠
❗You’ll experience nasty headaches and dizziness⁠
❗Your skin will look crepey and dry⁠
❗You may suffer from urinary tract infections, kidney stones and constipation.⁠
❗Your urine will be dark and emit a strong smell.⁠

HOW MUCH WATER WILL QUENCH YOUR THIRST?⁠

🚰 6-8 glasses a day is ideal - too much water can be dangerous so don’t get carried away.⁠

🚰 To run smoothly your body requires regular topping up with water, just like your car! So, enjoy sips of water throughout the day and try not to wait until you’re gasping.⁠

🌍 Remember to stick to good old tap water when you can. Single use plastic is bad for us and bad for nature: a single bottle can take 500 years to decompose! Buy a reusable bottle to transport your crystal clear tap water and if you’re at home, fill your glass half a dozen times and your body will thank you!⁠
